NYCold

The paper just hit the outside of the door as a cold slab of printed matter. It is cold outside. We are far from the Florida temperatures I grew so easily accustomed to over the last 10 days. My weather station says it is cold outside, about 20F ( Fahrenheit which is -6C.)

At these temperatures even the air conditioner on the roof of the bank across Broadway turns into a little cloud making machine as do all the cars and even people and their pets. Just a few birds dare to open their beaks this morning, and it is a barely noticeable hello between the loud sound of the trucks rushing downtown and the trains being on schedule. Here we are. Back in NYCold. (It is December after all.)

Y'know Witold and Quinn are advocators for Mac's and I have to say that I find that Mac's seem to Read More

More information for those who would like to know.

i think i'll try to stay inside under the blankets today!

This sounds like the smartest thing to do on a day like this Em!ly. (brrrr... the temperature just went further down to 19F)

Hey! Welcome back to town. Get a sweater, it's friggin frigid out there. But it could be worse...Saturday night I got hammered at a birthday party and a restaurant opening, took a cab uptown at 4:00am, threw up on myself, fell out of a cab onto the street, got in a fistfight with the driver, and pretty much broke my thumb. I don't have health insurance anymore, so I'll have to live with the thumb thing, but the biggest pain is that I had to have my main winter jacket drycleaned (to get rid of the throw-up), and now I am totally wearing inappropriately thin outerwear for the temperature. It was hard to get to work this morning.

Hopefully, the MTA will strike next week, and we'll be forced to work from home. Go MTA!

Hey, call me if you're around...

how'd you get the cool weather thingie? i want one! (But only if it says it's sunny and 75) also - do you have a norton cd for osx?
;)
(and chris, yuk!)

Welcome back : )
my favorite photograph on your site is the one with all the birdies and the dragonfly. I've been hitting them the past few times I've been here. I like.

It's soup weather : ), and hot tea, hot chocolate, red socks, and scrabble.

can somebody translate into metric for me?

it's 20 here today too! but 20C! i was just thinking how lovely and cool it is and how it might be a good idea to crawl back into bed. But you have given me some perspective ;)

(and don't you love how talking about the weather generates so many comments? ;)

it's not cold here in SF, but it's POURING rain...
I need to gear up and buy some boots or something, because I'm coming east in a week. I've gotten so used to the climate here that I'm not sure I can handle 20 degree weather. if it snows I will be happy.

Wow, this is insane. I should probably just post about the weather from now on. So many comments! (And just one on the previous post which was so much more spectacular, I thought.
Sorry to hear about your thumb, Chris. Let’s hope that the economy picks up very soon and that all of us will have the best health insurance again. Remember Canada? It does look quite attractive when you look at your thumb, doesn’t it? Or the Netherlands?
Neille, I do not have the Norton CD. Also, I somehow went completely insane this year and started buying all the software I use on my Mac. And I even pay for Shareware. Thus the full functionality of the Glucose WeatherPop. One of the greatest little menue bar gadgets. You can ask it for weather anywhere in the world, so it can always say 75F if you just know where to point it to. Whenever it gets too cold, I just switch to Shauna land, which is Australia... and things look nice and toasty.
Do you guys think I could trigger even more comments if I started writing less PG?... I am not going to try, of course. It is currently 26F outside....

You tempted me to post my weather info, hosted on my host:

pat you tease!

Yeah... 19C. Can I come by with some frozen vegetables? (Such nice weather, Pat.)

i'll bring the beverages

I've started to slowly but surely but all my software to, I figured that if I use it everyday and it gives me pleasure (steady) then it's only right that I give up the coinage for it. I even bought a copy of Windows XP.
