bird club

Birds are taking a wild, splashy bath in a water filled cavity on the roof of the building across Broadway. It is a fancy tin bird bath, with lion heads on the rim looking down onto the street, with mobile phone antennas, with sky tents, with the sun heating up the water, with full sky access. Two Starlings are taking the wild bath. A pigeon is drinking. Another one is just sitting, getting warm from the sun. Several sparrows are hopping all over the roof. The place seems popular. The white markings in this portion of the roof are a clear sign for that. There was an unidentified singing bird on the same roof this morning, trying to out-sing the syrens and the horns of the morning traffic.

bird baths = West Nile Virus breeding grounds

Every time I see a puddle, I try and break it up so no mosquitos can breed in there.

I think I will need to call the department of homeland security after all. ; )

often on my street choirs of grackles serenade the block. the house sparrows, too, like to chirp when the sun is setting, and sometimes the only thing you can hear is the chatter of grackles and sparrows.

Wow, Alexandra this sounds wonderful. Where in the world do you live?

love your current "logo" the skyline through your window screen, VERY COOL!!! I need to move there soon!!!!!!!! Oh yeah, birds here are stupid and do nothing. (believe me? )

america

America. Lovely place. This narrows it down pretty much. No more info needed. ; )
OK, which one of the Americas?

Hello Pat,
well, actually, the picture of the houses behind the mosquito net is not taken in New York. It is north Miami beach. Sunny Isles bay. The image will soon be available as a limited edition. I am working on getting it produced. My production requirements are very harsh. I think the final piece will be really nice. I like this picture too. : )

the northern one, that is US
