At the moment you wrote this, I was standing on the subway platform of the E train at 5th ave and 53rd st. I looked up at the overhead digital display in the station and read out the day and time: Wednesday, September 11. 8:44 am. An E train pulled in, but I let it pass. The overhead clock now read 8:46. I took a picture of the clock and stepped onto the next E train to pull into the station. I caught the eyes of some fellow passengers and we silently acknowledged the time. Everyone was kept still and said nothing.

time is weird.

my ex-boss gave me a hello-kitty alarm clock the last time she saw me. she knows i love childish girlie stuff, she also knows I needed an alarm clock were i to get a job in nyc...i was never to work on time when i worked for her...but i am cute and would squeal whenever she would show my a photograph of a puppy or a kitten so who cared...?

so hello kitty alarm clock sits by the pink suitcase right next to my bed. everytime it buzzes my eyes pop open and read the time clearly, generally it says 7:45

i didn't have work on the 11th--in fact my plan was to stay in bed, avoid newspaper, television, film, radio, theatre, art, dance, coffee houses, parks, gatherings, memorials and even conversation to fullest extent possible.

needless to say my alarm clock wasn't set. but as soon as the time turned to 9:11 on 9/11 my eyes poped open and stared into the digital red numbers...so much for trying to avoid those numbers

i turned the clock around and went back to sleep.

We had a minute's silence in work and I attended the memorial service in the afternoon. How time flies but I doubt it's gone very quickly for anyone involved.
