The wind is so strong in New York today, it is as if thousands and thousands of Souls were rushing through the streets, trying to touch everyone, all at once. To twirl their hair, to tear on their clothes, to let them know that life does not end where we think it does.
There was a crackling sound in the stairwell. As if somebody were opening an old wooden box. I put my ear next to the wall and heard how the entire building slowly moved in the wind. They probably all do now. The entire city must be performing a subtle, hardly noticable dance.

she said " I never knew hair could hurt"
it's like a little typhoon outside... but it's sunny that must mean something.
It was a sunny day one year ago, too. It don't mean nothing.
