Loretta Lux takes serious pictures.
They look like pictures of very realistic dolls. It is not wax we are looking at, it seems more like bisque china. Serious, frozen, odd, composed, cold, magical portraits of children by the German Photographer Loretta Lux. Interesting.

Posted by: kate on July 16, 2002 09:56 AMThe pictures strike me as very similar in atmosphere to those of Rineke Dijkstra. The settings however, are more surreal, if that's the word. More composed, purposeful, maybe. And the kids are more subdued, less expressive, more ready for us to project our own thoughts onto them.
